John McCarthy and Mickey Joe Morrissey's hat trick of victories in the McCauley Trailers National Forest Championship has given them a 15 point breathing space over Brian McGillin and David Doherty. Of course, rallying being a fickle mistress, one 'off' and a no point scoring round would put them right back in the mix. Stephen Moore who was running second on the championship board before the weekend is a case in point, as is Owen Murphy who after a stunning first place at Carrick has been unable to maintain the momentum. With three rounds to go the championship is not quite in the bag for the Cork/Waterford crew but one more win could push them beyond the reach of the pack.
